The Berlin Centre for International Peacekeeping Missions (ZIF)
The ZIF was founded in April, 2000 in co-operation of the Federal Government and the German Bundestag. Its central tasks are the strengthening of international non-profit capacities for crisis prevention, conflict solution and peace consolidation through the following measures:
Training of civil specialists and managers for international peace keeping and survaillance missions lead by the United Nations (UN), the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the European Union (EU) or other governmental authorities.
Setting up and maintaining a reservoir of german civil specialists and managers for such missions as the need arises for fast intervention.
Recruiting, mentoring and post-case of specialists in service.
Independant scientific analyses, preparation of reports and trainings about best practices and lessons learned in peace keeping missions.
The ZIF is organised in three different divisions to fullfill its tasks: training, recruiting and analysis
The ZIF’s legal form of the company is a non-commercial limited liabillity organisation. Through the articles of the organisation ZIF is represented through an executive management with a board of directors and an advisory body. The ZIF has its representation at the Ludwigkirchplatz in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
